BG and I chat online during non-play date evenings… probably too often. As a result, SwingBot has been jokingly referring to BG as \”your boyfriend\” for a very long time now. I have, all too frequently, lost track of the hour and stayed up later than I intended while chatting with BG.
SwingBot has a \”vanilla\” male friend with whom he frequently plays multiplayer video games. It is pretty standard that the two of them talk on the telephone and play some game or other together. SwingBot has frequently stayed up late, playing a game while talking to this friend.
A few weeks ago, I was once again chatting online with BG. While preparing to head to bed early, SwingBot admonished, \”Don\’t stay up late talking with your boyfriend.\” Within a moment of his snide remark, SwingBot\’s telephone rang, the caller being his gaming friend. I replied, \”Don\’t stay up late talking with your boyfriend.\”
There have been other times that I have referred to that particular friend as \”SwingBot\’s boyfriend\” (or \”SwingBot\’s date\” when they go out to do something together), but that was probably the instance best timed for maximum snark.
Ooo la la! Last night, that same heterosexual, \”vanilla\” friend sent SwingBot a message to let him know that the friend was home from his family Thanksgiving get-together and ready for gaming by sending a text message: \”Honey, I\’m home!\”
